CRAA Welcomes Funding Announcement from the Government of Canada

Charlo, NB – The Charlo Regional Airport Authority is pleased with Government of
Canada’s recent announcement that the Charlo Regional Airport will receive funding
through its Airports Capital Assistance Program (ACAP), which provides assistance to
regional airports throughout Canada.

Charlo Regional Airport will be receiving funding to replace ageing runway maintenance
equipment. In total, up to $669,750 will be received during the 2018-2019 fiscal year to
purchase a medium snow blower, 4X4 snow plow truck, dry material spreader and runway
friction tester.

“As a not-for-profit corporation, the Charlo Regional Airport Authority’s primary source of
revenue is generated from day-to-day operations, and is currently not sufficient to reinvest
in major capital improvements”, states Stéphanie Clark, Chief Executive Officer. “For small
regional airports, receiving financial assistance from Transport Canada is a welcomed and
crucial part of ensuring the safe and efficient operations of our community’s airport.”

“On behalf of the Government of Canada, I am pleased to partner with the Charlo Regional
Airport for this very important investment announcement”, states René Arsenault, Member
of Parliament for Madawaska-Restigouche. “The Charlo Regional Airport is an important
part of the region’s transportation infrastructure, and provides an essential service to our
region.”

“As a proud representative of this beautiful region, I am pleased with the Government of
Canada’s investment in the Charlo Regional Airport”, states Hon. Gilles LePage, Minister of
Labour, Employment and Population Growth and representative for Restigouche West.

“Investing in the future of our airport is necessary to continue to ensure its position as an
essential part of the economic health of our region.”
A competitive process, following Transport Canada procurement policies, will be launched
in the coming months to acquire the new equipment.
