CHARLO REGIONAL AIRPORT AUTHORITY WELCOMES FUNDING ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE GOVERNMENT OF CANADA

December 2, 2021

Charlo, NB – The Charlo Regional Airport Authority is pleased with Government of Canada’s recent announcement that the Charlo Regional Airport will receive funding through its Airports Capital Assistance Program (ACAP), which provides assistance to regional airports throughout Canada.

Charlo Regional Airport will be receiving funding to replace ageing runway maintenance equipment. In total, $780,000 will be received during the current 2021 fiscal year to purchase a grader and a runway sweeper.

“As a not-for-profit corporation, receiving financial assistance from the Airport Capital Assistance Program (ACAP) will ensure that our regional airport maintains its ability to operate in the most efficient and secure manner, states Brad Mann, Vice Chair. “Today’s announcement represents another important phase in the ongoing initiative to revitalize infrastructure and services at Charlo Regional Airport.”

“The Charlo Regional Airport Authority is an important hub for residents and businesses in this region. This investment will help ensure continued safe and reliable airport operations for the residents of the region, many of whom depend on their local airports not only for personal travel and community resupply, but also for access to routine and emergency medical care in larger centers.” (René Arseneault, Madawaska-Restigouche)

A competitive process, following Transport Canada procurement policies, will be launched in the coming weeks to acquire the new equipment.
